dinky House

The parti for this cabin addressed simple pragmatic needs, with spaces organized about a datum. Three dimensionally, the resulting facades exhibit a push-and-pull playfulness. Materials and systems were selected for both aesthetics and appropriateness, and were informed by the pragmatic desires of resiliency and sustainability. Materials include SIPS walls, corrugated metal roofing, fiber cement siding, and plywood ceilings. Systems include mini-split heat/air, water-sense plumbing fixtures, hot water recirculating pump, ceiling fans and LED light fixtures. Creatively addressing the challenges of the program and site, the owner-architect and his wife were able to create something truly special – a striking cabin on a picturesque site, that provides a welcome respite from the rigors of their busy lives!
