HPD Firearms Training Facility

The Huntsville Police Department Law Enforcement Training Center is a campus of facilities designed to foster better training for police officers. The Birmingham Division of the FBI served as an important partner with HPD in the design and development of the facilities. The primary facility, the Firearms Training Facility, serves to train officers in effective policing tactics. The building consists of classrooms, areas for physical training, locker rooms, administrative areas, and other support areas. On the backside of the building, and accessible from within the building, is a large canopy at the end of a pistol range. In conjunction with the Tactical Training building and a long-distance rifle range, a previously sparse campus has been transformed into a state-of-the-art training campus with facilities that will result in better training of law enforcement officers. Better training leads to better, fairer, and more effective policing.
