HPD Tactical Training Building

The Huntsville Police Department Law Enforcement Training Center is a campus of facilities designed to foster better training for police officers. The Birmingham Division of the FBI served as an important partner with HPD in the design and development of the facilities. The Tactical Training Building serves to train officers in how to enter a building and conduct invasion techniques using Simunitions. Officers enter through a breaching door. Inside the building is a combination of fixed and movable walls, sliding and swinging doors, and fixed-room scenarios. The flexibility of the interior spaces allows for endless building configurations, necessary for effective training. In conjunction with the Firearms Training Facility and a long-distance rifle range, a previously sparse campus has been transformed into a state-of-the-art training campus with facilities that will result in better training of law enforcement officers. Better training leads to better, fairer, and more effective policing.
